  1. Copying! I'm trying to move out of my gigantic fat-arsed franklin planner into my slim personal Winchester and am struggling with copying everything over. Literally dozens of contacts' details, probably a hundred tickler notes, dozens of appointments and events... this is mad! I shy from saying "never," but I certainly hope to NEVER switch to a non-filofax compatible planner again! Agonizing to try to convert back. It's just too complicated.

    Cheers, everyone.

    1. I commiserate with you. I just did that not too long ago (but my transformation didn´t include FC nor Winchesters, just narrower paper size) and when I had everything else done, I just copied some of the contacts and cut the paper with copied contacts and glued the clippings to the new notebook. This couldn´t be done on every page but even a few made my life loads easier.
Other than that, may the Force copy with you!

    2. Josh, not quite the same but going from a personal with 30mm rings down to 23 mm rings is also quite a chore especially if the bigger set up is working really well (in my case) but I looked long and hard at one pages I could leave out and I can go between the two sizes reasonably painlessly now.

    3. Oh Josh, I know your pain! I went back and forth from FC to Filofax while I was waffling about switching over completely; I carried around wads of loose paper. I do miss the big rings but not the clunkiness and now that I've sold every single FC I owned, I don't miss them. Holborns forever! (knock knock)

    4. Steve I did that over the weekend. I feel your pain... And josh that must be even harder - with even bigger rings.

    5. Josh I'm sending positive-vibe anti-handcramp Filo mojo your way! Best of luck man! It will be worth it to be in your beloved Winchester.

    6. Josh - That is the very reason I quit looking at FCs, and went back to my personal Filos. *Shudder* I hate to even begin to do what you are doing... Good Luck and keep going!

    7. Josh, I've gone UP to a 2 page per day FC classic, which means I'm recopying too, but it's a little easier as I can type and print landscape on standard US letter sized paper. Am using 16 lb paper (ordered from Amazon). You might be able to photocopy your pages, reducing as necessary, onto these thinner sheets and use them in your Winchester.

    8. can't imagine downsizing...my classic size FranklinCovey is so full of stuff I dream about moving up into a Monarch size! How do people with a personal or pocket size planner get by?

"Live North of the Line"--your daily dose of FranklinCovey propaganda

    9. Oh, I should brag about my find: the previous post notwithstanding, I actually use a personal size planner for my work stuff--the monster FC Classic is for the rest of my life--and the other day I found a Portable (Personal) size Day Timer Malibu binder in a thrift shop for seventy-five cents! It's practically unused, like new...and a new Portable Malibu is $69.99 in the Day Timer catalog, so I think I did pretty well for myself. The leather on this is just beautiful.

    10. I have nobody to blame but myself. Yes, slimming from 30mm to 23mm is quite difficult. My FC has 38mm rings so getting down to 23 is an enormous challenge. Tracy's video on putting her Portland on liposuction is extremely apt. Need to schedule an emergency liposuction. I need to just stop using this FC stuff. Who cares if it works well? I never like using it so the fact that it happens to work well is irrelevant. The planner needs to balance function with pleasing form.

  2. In Stockholm we saw FF branded inserts printed on cream paper, not Cotton Cream, which is barely heavier than regular FF white, but a seriously hefty paper.
Two identically printed diaries, placed side by side showed that the cream version was at least twice as thick as the white (if not thicker).
For those who try to cram as much a possible into their FF this wouldn't be much of a selling point, but for anyone who is willing to forego non-essential pages, it would be a really nice paper to have in your Filo.
I've never seen it mentioned, maybe it's a new thing?

    1. I might ask Janet if she has any samples she can bring along to the Antwerp Meet Up next month, interesting to hear of the differences though, seeing the layouts is one thing but knowing what the paper is like is very useful information. Thank you

    2. Maybe something to ask the High Heid Yins about when you go to Dalkeith?

    3. I have Danish 2013 cream inserts (DPP and Wo2P) and Swedish 2014 cream (Wo2P). The paper quality is indeed excellent. Having recently fallen foul of the Great Quo Vadis Timer17 Refill Width disaster, I'm now thinking of ordering Danish 2014 diaries - that little bit of red on each page makes them beautiful and business-like at the same time. The only drawback I can find is that the Wo2P only has appointments from 0800 to 1600 (plus a single line for evenings), which presumably mirrors the way Skandinavians work. However the DPP has appointments from 0800 to 2200, which is more than enough even for me - although I'd accept an 0700 appointment slot if they offered it to me.....

  3. I love my Filofaxes!! I am struggling to shrink A5 or even A4 size into personal size. What I do is to save the A5 size as jpeg, open any personal page (from files here) in doc and insert the picture, resizing it trying to match the personal size of the previous document. Then I print it. It is a lot of work! And sometimes the picture just doesn't want stay where I want it to be. Is there a way to have just a blank personal size markings document where we could just insert pictures, and resize them in to the personal size markings with a bit of easy, please? Sometimes, trying to do that with a personal page, covering the content of the page with the picture trying to match the size of it, change the position of the personal markings on the doc. It is really a lot of work. I am not sure if I am being clear... Sorry my English is not that good.

    1. Umm, I have not done this, but there are personal size day per page documents in Word in the Diary inserts section of the web site. They have the page edge markings on them. You could take the Word version, delete the contents, leaving only the page edge markings, and paste the picture in... maybe that would work?

      Good Luck!

  4. I've just received my new purple pocket sized Malden, which I ordered from amazon uk. Np with how they packaged it, in the original filofax box and a padded mailing bag. Removed filofax from box, checked it over and tomy dismay and annoyance, the leather by the closing popper is significantly scuffed and the front cover also has a noticable scratch.

It's gone back into the box and I've e-mailed amazon. Do the Maldens scratch easily anyway?

    Many thanks.

  5. Hi Kristy, what a pity& no, my Maldens (A5&personal) are not delicate and the leather nicely withstands the usal wear and tear. Hope your next is going to be of good quality.

  6. I still haven't heard back from the seller, as yet. I'm hoping they do actually reply as it was bought via amazon uk market place. But the seller is a well known uk pen store.

  7. I have a basic question for one of the administrators. This might sound silly, but I have only recently started blogging regularly and I have a section on stationery (mainly Filofax content). I am an avid reader of Philofaxy and would like to make references to this blog. Is it ok if I do? Are there any specific rules to follow?
    Thanks.
